Oskar Schindler
Schindler was a humanitarian during the Holocaust. He saved more 1,200 jews. He rescued many of them from Auschwitz. He was born on April 28th, 1908. (--Oskar Schindler). He lived for 66 years and lived in Germany for all of them. After he saved the many Jews, he tried to leave Germany and go into the US, but he was denied because he was once part of the Nazi Party. Once Oskar finished going to trade school, he went to find work. He took over a Jewish factory and became the leader of it. He made his fortune there and he worked there throught WW1. (--Oskar Schindler). Once the Holocaust started, Schindler was still part of the Nazi Party but didn't realize how bad the Jews were being treated. One day he went to one of the camps and saw the Jews and how they had to live. He saw all their terrible conditions. Instantly, Schindler realized that something had to be changed. He got he Nazis to allow him to run his own sub-camp. This camp was fully ran by him and others rarely came to it. Oskar got several of the Jews out of Auschwitz and into his camp. He saved nearly 1,000 Jews from Auschwitz. At his camp, the Jews were treated right, were givin food, and didn't have terrible living conditions. ("Holocaust History"). This camp was not like the others. Schindler also started to take some of the Jews out of Auschwitz and allow them to work at his factory. He also allowed many Jews to hide in the factory and he took care of them. (Online Speech Bank...).
After the war was over, Oskar recieved the "Righteous Among the Nations" award. People called him, "The unforgettable rescuer of 1,200 persecuted Jews." Oskar was also a failure in his life, but only after the war. He failed a being a moive producer and at getting into the USA. ("Holocaust History").
